Teams Fasten Belts As League Goes Without Sponsors.

Several Mainland Premier League teams are figuring out the rough days ahead, after it was confirmed that they will play their opening 2018/2019 league matches without main sponsors.
It is reported that the Vodacom Tanzania, who sponsored the league for close to eight years have not extended their sponsorship deal and the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) is huffing and puffing for a new league main sponsor.
Several teams have confirmed receiving letters from Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) that they have to fasten their belts because the league, which officially kicks off on Wednesday will run without main sponsors.
Speaking with the ‘Daily News’ yesterday in Dar es Salaam, the owner of the topflight league and the promoted side, African Lyon FC, Rahim Kangezi confirmed receiving the notification from TPLB, saying it will cripple their campaign.
“Playing without financial support will be a great challenge to many of the teams, except three giants Simba, Young Africans and Azam FC.
This news has come at the time when we needed most the support after the league has been expanded to 20 teams from previously 16,” said Kangezi.
