UWT calls development stakeholders to support women.

The Chairperson of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) women’s Wing, (UWT), Ms Gaudensia Kabaka has asked development stakeholders to focus on supporting women in rural areas so that they can participate in bringing about development through industrialisation.
Speaking during the Africa Reconnect 2018 Conference and Exhibition in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Ms Kabaka said women are already engaged in various activities including industrial development.
She said development stakeholders need to support them in order to bring more changes.
The needed support, according to her, is availability of modern farming equipment, among others, because majority use poor tools in their farming activities. “About 80 per cent of women in rural areas are employed in agriculture sector, however, most of them have been working for their survival.
It is high time we turn their dreams to something different and good,” she said.
She reminded the participants that industrialisation doesn’t mean possession of larger machines, but even one (machine) which fits on dinner table, accompanied by skills and creativity can also make a factory.
She said President John Magufuli has been doing everything in his power to support women in the country.
She also added the head of state helped to strengthen the Tanzania Women’s Bank, which is basically focusing on supporting women economically.
